The real hot chocolate par excellence (traditional method & Thermomix)
Description
When the wind is blowing outside and temperatures are dropping, there's nothing like a cup of real hot chocolate. This has nothing to do with a sugary powder like Nesquik! I only use real dark chocolate, which I melt gently with spices, a dash of sugar and sometimes a drop of rum for the adults. On several occasions, my customers have asked me to prepare large quantities, served in thermos flasks with whipped cream, especially at outdoor winter events. So it's about time I finally shared this recipe with you.
Ingredients
Instructions
- TRADITIONAL METHOD
Preparation - traditional method :
1. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over a low heat.
2. Add the chocolate pieces and stir until completely melted.
3. Add the sugar, cinnamon and, for adults, the rum.
4. Pour immediately into two cups.
5. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with grated chocolate or marshmallows for the children.
Tip: By drinking through the cream, the heat of the chocolate is softened - it's more pleasant, especially for younger children.
THERMOMIX® METHOD
Preparation - Thermomix® method :
1. Whip the cream (if using):
- Insert the whisk into the bowl.
- Pour in the cold cream and whisk on sight, without the measuring cup, speed 3.5.

2. Prepare the hot chocolate :
- Place the chocolate pieces in the bowl.
- Blend for 10 sec / speed 10. Scrape down the sides.
- Add the milk, sugar, cinnamon and rum.
- Heat for 6 mins / 80°C / speed 1.
3. Finish :
o Pour into two cups. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with grated chocolate or marshmallows...
