Viking stew is a hearty and comforting dish, perfect for feeding the whole family. It is prepared in a single pot, making it particularly convenient and economical. Inspired by the idea of substantial, robust meals, this stew combines meatballs, potatoes, carrots and peas for a complete and nourishing dish. An easy-to-prepare family recipe that can be adapted to suit whatever ingredients you have to hand.

  1. TRADITIONAL METHOD
    Preparation (traditional method)
    1. Season the minced meat with salt and pepper, then shape into small balls.
    2. Peel and dice the potatoes and carrots. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
    3. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Fry the onion and garlic until fragrant.
    4. Add the potatoes and carrots, then leave to cook for a few minutes.
    5. Pour in the vegetable stock, add the cornflour and mix well. Add the peas and simmer for 5 minutes.
    6. Add the meatballs and cook for another 10 to 15 minutes, until they are cooked through.
    7. Add the cream (optional), adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
