A family lunch – why not cook a dish that everyone loves?
Description
There are some meals that we cook, above all, to bring joy to others.
Once a year, I like to get my in-laws together for a classic Austrian dish: Wiener Schnitzel. It’s a dish that everyone loves and that’s always a hit at our table.
This year, I was particularly keen to make everyone happy and enjoy some quality time with the family. There were supposed to be sixteen of us, but in the end there were nineteen of us round the table!
On the menu: some Viennese Schnitzel nice and crispy, served with a Austrian potato salad with thin slices of cucumber, lemon wedges and cranberry jam. To finish, a Homemade Sacher cake a bit unusual: my recipe is made with only egg whites, a brilliant way to use up any leftovers from other recipes. And the good news is: the cake can be made in advance and freezes very well, even once it’s been filled and iced, in individual portions!
